A trading journal for eToro
eToro tells you what you won and lost. TradeJournal helps you see why: bring in your closed positions with eToro's API keys or its account statement, then review, tag and replay them.
No card needed to start. Then CHF 5 a month or CHF 50 a year, cancel any time.

Two ways in
- API: in eToro open Settings, Trading, API Key Management and create a key with Read permission for your Real account.
- Paste the Public API Key and the User Key in TradeJournal and press Sync: closed positions arrive with eToro's own net profit and fees.
- Or export the account statement (Portfolio, History, Account statement, XLSX) and import the file. It also brings open positions and deposits.
Read permission is enough; the journal never places orders.
eToro and the journal, in detail
Where the API keys are
Settings, Trading, API Key Management, Create New Key. The section appears once your eToro account is verified; if it is missing, finish the verification first.
How to set up the key
Environment Real (a Demo key only reads the virtual portfolio), permission Read, and an empty IP whitelist, because the sync runs from TradeJournal’s server. eToro confirms the key with an SMS code and then shows a Public API Key and a User Key: the journal needs both.
What a sync brings in
The positions closed since the last sync, a year back on the first run, which is eToro’s limit per request. The journal looks up the ticker behind each eToro instrument and skips rows it already has. A daily sync can be switched on: the first time the journal is open after 08:30 Swiss time.
The account statement, for open positions and deposits
Portfolio, the History tab (the clock icon), the settings wheel, Account statement: choose the period and download the XLSX. The journal reads the Account Activity sheet, joins each position by its Position ID and adds the overnight fees to it.
Everything a trading journal should do
Brokers sync by themselves
Interactive Brokers and Trading 212 sync automatically, eToro with its API keys; Charles Schwab, Robinhood, Webull, TradeStation, DEGIRO and more on PRO; Swissquote, Saxo and any broker from a file.
Replay every trade
Watch the chart rebuild candle by candle around your entry and exit, with VWAP, moving averages and MACD.
Setups and entry tactics
Tag what the trade was and how you entered it. The playbook shows which ones actually pay you.
Positions with adds and trims
Buys and sells of one position are grouped into one line with its timeline, valued by average cost like the IBKR app.
Size and risk before you click
The position size calculator and your open risk across the account, in one place.
Market screener
US stocks by theme, 52-week highs and lows, new highs of the day and MACD crosses, refreshed during the session.
One plan, everything included
Launch price until 31 October 2026. 7 days free, no card needed to start.
Questions
Are leveraged positions supported?
Yes. A leveraged position is marked CFD and a short shows as a negative quantity.
Why one row per position and not per fill?
eToro reports positions, not individual fills, so the journal keeps eToro's own figures for each closed position.
What about positions that are still open?
Import the account statement once: open positions come from it.
A position opened before the statement starts?
It is still complete when it closes inside the statement: only its open date is unknown, and the close date is used.
Do I need the API to use the journal with eToro?
No. The account statement alone brings closed and open positions, deposits and withdrawals. The API only saves you the download.
